This is a question that has troubled learning and development professionals for decades. And many in L&D would struggle to give a satisfactory answer. Yet it's a question that goes to the very heart of our professional existence.
A very typical result of some employees taking some training goes something like this.
A small proportion will use their new learning successfully and achieve a concrete and valuable result. A similarly small number will not use their learning at all.
The vast majority will use some of their learning, probably not achieve any significant concrete results and ultimately give up.
The good news is that this typical outcome can be changed.
We can introduce you to a set of key tasks and principles which will make your training evaluation simple, effective and credible.
You can incorporate these tasks into your existing training design process, enabling you to dig down into the real impact of your training.
This enables you to discover what really worked, what definitely didn't and refine future interventions accordingly.
Our in-house programme consists of 5 modules and covers everything you need to know to start building effective, credible evaluation of your training into your overall L&D strategy.
The modules can all be covered in a day of in-house face-to-face or virtual classroom training and come with ready-made forms, questionnaires and documents you would need to get up and running.

Unlike so much evaluation of training which is, frankly, just an after-thought (think typical 'happy sheet') our approach is 'baked in' from the outset.
This module helps you:
Implicit in this approach is the recognition that ultimate success and performance improvements come from evolving, refining and supporting a learning intervention, by gathering and assessing qualitative feedback and quantitive metrics.
Module length: 1.5 hours
Central to your training evaluation approach will be your Impact Model. This will build on the scoping and planning work previously completed.
This module shows you how to define and create your Impact Model by identifying :

For the face-to-face classroom, these are the available blocks of delivery time:
Half day: 3 or 3.5 hours of module time
Three quarter day: 4.5 or 5 hours of module time
Whole day: 6 or 6.5 hours of module time
Once you have decided which modules you would like to take, we will work with you to identify a suitable timetable for delivery.
With face-to-face training, if people are taking more than a day of training they typically opt for delivery on consecutive days.
However, with virtual classroom delivery, it’s perfectly possible to spread sessions over a period of non-consecutive days (or weeks), allowing short breaks between days when sessions are delivered.
For face-to-face delivery, we usually come to you and deliver at your premises. If you have an off-site location you would prefer to use, just let us know.
Please note: if you choose an off-site location, you are wholly responsible for any booking and/or cancellation fees for the venue you are hiring.
For virtual classroom delivery, the sessions are delivered live online in our virtual classroom.
We’ve aimed to make the content of the programme as modular and flexible as possible. However, if you need customisation of a particular module or a topic not covered by existing modules then please let us know.
We have a bank of modular materials over and above those we use for the standard modules.
So it's likely that if you have a more specialised request, we'll have something ready to use or something that requires only minimal work to prepare it.
These are the prices for both face-to-face classroom and virtual classroom delivery:

We offer a 10% discount on the face-to-face classroom rates shown above, if you have a small group (up to a maximum of three) who need a face-to-face in-house course.
If have just one or two people in your organisation who need training why not consider our public or self-study options.
For face-to-face delivery, we re-charge any trainer travel or accommodation expenses to you, at cost. Our trainers are located in the Home Counties and south Midlands, so expenses will depend on how far we have to travel to reach your premises.
If you are a training director, manager or team leader who is thinking about introducing a more robust training evaluation strategy, then an in-house programme might not be what you need just yet.
If this is the case, you may be more interested in our publicly scheduled (or 1-to-1) delivery of the modules described above.
This would enable you to learn the 'how to' of the approach for yourself and decide if it's what you and your team need.
Our publicly scheduled Evaluating Learning to Optimise Performance course runs regularly in both the face-to-face and virtual classrooms.
